Buttery Granola

Granola is one of those foods that is too easy to snack on! Whether you eat it with yogurt, acai, or one of my favorites–on ice cream, it is equally delicious. When I started my journey of reducing my refined sugar, I was disappointed by the store- available options that met my criteria. So, I decided to start making my own granola! I like to make it first thing in the morning because it smells incredible, warm and carmely. It is truly delicious and simple to make. It is one of my go-to’s and I know it will become yours too!

Ingredients:

1/2 tsp Fine Baking Salt

2 tsp Cinnamon

*4 Cups Extra Thick Organic Rolled Oats

1tsp Vanilla Extract

1/3 cup Salted Butter melted

**1/4 cup Maple Syrup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F

  2. Place 4 cups of oats, cinnamon, and salt in a large mixing bowl and stir until fully incorporated

  3. Melt 1/3 cup of butter

  4. Add vanilla and maple syrup to the bowl of butter and mix for about ten seconds

  5. Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the bowl of oats while stirring with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon to evenly coat all of the oats

  6. Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes, stopping halfway to turn over the oats.

  7. Once they are out of the oven, allow 45 minutes for the oats to cool before putting in your preferred storage jar

*Can be regular organic rolled oats, but they will not have as much crunch to them. You will want to adjust the cooking time as well to 30 minutes and turn the oats at the halway mark.

**This granola is only slightly sweet. If you want granola that is noticeably sweet, start by adding one more tablespoons of maple syrup.

**You can substitute honey if you do not have maple syrup, but I prefer the taste of maple syrup for this recipe
